Abstract

Current social and political scenarios are increasingly complex. Because of this, democracy as an aspiration, utopia or political regime has been increasingly questioned as a system that regulates the ways we relate as individuals. In particular, one of the most important precepts of democracy has been debated, which consists of guaranteeing equality, freedoms and rights of people through the party systems and electoral systems that make it up. Electoral processes are directly linked to the democratic system of each nation, since representation, legitimacy and the exercise of power depend on them with counterweights that allow accountability and, thereby, guarantee the quality of democratic regimes in the world today. In this regard, 2024 is a particularly important year, since during its course, in several countries around the world, elections are held to elect various public positions.
