Abstract

This article addresses the problem of developing public policies in the new scenarios of contemporary capitalism. Some accumulation processes are deeply and sophisticatedly destructive, although they offer high rates of capital appreciation. With this premise, some axial questions arise to be addressed in this article, which begins with the restrictions that the world of globalization imposes on the State, and reopens the reflection on the economic and political difficulties to implement and sustain public policies that avoid or modify those harmful consequences.
