The international Treaties or Agreements that States sign in order to bring social or political benefits to their nations, have been evolving from the merely commercial to more modern areas where cooperation takes on great importance in terms of development, democracy and, especially, human rights. . Between the eighties and the end of the nineties, Mexico acquired various international commitments which necessarily required a new paradigm in reference to human rights. One of these commitments was the one acquired with the European Union through the signing of a global agreement, which contained a novel figure called "democratic clause", which tends to seek peace and respect for human rights between the signatory nations both both internally and in its international action. The acceptance of said clause must be understood as another expression of the Mexican State in its task of defense, promotion and dissemination of human rights.Downloads
