The purpose of the essay is to analyze what motivated to North Korea to develop nuclear weapons, investigate whether such weapons represent a real risk to international security and if exist a possibility that this country will use nuclear weapons to resolve the conflict with the United States of America and South Korea. In the work it was identified that the protection of their security and survival did affect the decision of North Korea to become nuclear; although, the search for international status and domestic policy issues also influenced. Although North Korea’s nuclear program represents a risk to international security, it is unlikely to use such weapons because its main utility is to negotiate economic aid, besides Pyongyang does not have the military capacity to face an attack by the us, neither the economic capacity to recover from it.Downloads
