Pakistan, a subregional power at the center of the Asian geopolitical trapezoid
Keywords:
Pakistan, subregional power, structural position, periphery, geopoliticsAbstract
The position of Pakistan is exceptional because it represents the intersection or geo-strategic node between the South, East, Center and West of the Asian continent. However, is this a State with sufficient power to play a leading role in the reconfiguration of the world order that has Asia as the main scenario? This article argues that Pakistan is a case of sub-regional power, that is, a State that, without having overcome its peripheral situation in the world-system, has managed to acquire a significant quota of economic-military power that guarantees certain margins of autonomy and projects it as a central piece in the Asian “geopolitical trapezoid”.Downloads
