Abstract

This article seeks to provide an overview of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The article is divided into two parts, and the first part explains the emergence of the concept of sustainable development composed of its three pillars: economic development, social development, and environmental protection, as well as its adoption in international environmental instruments held in the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) from 1972 to 2022. The second part addresses the global status of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS) to 2023 based on the SDGS Report published by the un and briefly explains the progress in compliance with the sdgs in Latin America and the Caribbean, and the European Union. The article concludes by saying that without the international community’s will, achieving the sdgs planned for 2030 will be difficult.
